The American Gem Society (AGS)
is the leading gemological institute
in the United States in terms of grading ideal cut diamonds,
and is the only
institute that actually grades the cut to its elemental characteristics
using
the diamond industry's "ideal range" measurements.
As seen on the AGS
certificate above, a diagram of the diamond is shown, along
with its cut
characteristics (table and depth percentage, etc).
In addition, note that the diamond's
foremost defining characteristics
are graded according to the following: polish, symmetry, and
proportion
in a numeric scale from 0= ideal to 10= poor making AGS 000
cut grade
(0=Ideal Polish, 0=Ideal Symmetry, 0=Ideal Proportions) the
highest
diamond grade the diamond industry has to offer.
